See, what had happened was…..

MY DAUGHTER HAD ANOTHER BABY!!

Seventeen days before my Tiny Bestie💕 turns two, my daughter gave birth to the most perfect baby boy, henceforth knows as Itty Bitty Bestie❣️ Kind of ironic considering he entered this world at 8lbs 14oz!!

A week or so before my birthday this past January, I had stopped to see Tiny Bestie💕 on my way home from work. My daughter handed me a gift bag. Now, I like to celebrate my “Birthday Month” so I didn’t think much of it…until I realized how light the bag was, and that whatever my gift was fit inside a single piece of tissue paper. The card said my real gift was going to take a little longer to be delivered. You see where this is going!😂 This time around it was my turn to keep a secret. Not that I wanted to, by my daughter insisted. I wasn’t allowed to share the news with anyone!

Lucky for me, neither my daughter nor my son-in-law are very good at secrets. I think my daughter may have used every ounce of secret-keeping ability she had two years ago. They told the family and a few close friends, so at least I had a few people I could talk to…or brag to….what can I say? I’m a proud Nene!

Pregnancy hasn’t been easy on my baby girl, but she is by far the toughest woman I know. And now she has TWO amazing children who are beyond lucky to call her mama. I thought my Tiny Bestie 💕 had my whole heart, but then came my Itty Bitty Bestie❣️ Turns out, grandma hearts can hold infinite love for every grandchild. My mom was right, if children are the 🌈rainbows🌈 in life, then grandchildren are the 🌟pots of gold🌟! I am so blessed!!

We started telling Tiny Bestie💕 that her baby brother was growing in mama’s belly. She liked to give her baby brother kisses and tell him she loved him. On more than one occasion, she insisted baby brother was in daddy’s belly, and sometimes even in her own! Toddlers are so damn cute!

I’ve spent the past two years absolutely spoiling my Tiny Bestie💕 every chance I get, so naturally I was concerned with how she’d adapt to sharing her world with Itty Bitty Bestie❣️ As it turns out, she loves to “help” take care of her brother. She is eager to give him his nuk, a bottle, a blanket, or even share her Oreos! She’s also very quick to tell us when he needs to be fed, held, or changed. And if his eyes close, you best believe she is shushing everyone around. “Shhh, baby sleeping!”

Having two grandkids is an amazing blessing. My cup runneth over! Even more amazing is watching my daughter navigate life as a mom of two. This spectacular woman is caring for a newborn while trying to keep up with a very active toddler. Truth be told, she’s absolutely crushing it!! This girl was meant to be a mom. After all, she does come from a long line of incredible moms. Yes, I’m patting myself on the back here, but it’s only because I learned from the best of the best.

My daughter’s head is probably sufficiently swollen now, although I’m sure she thinks I should keep writing about her and how wonderful she is! It’s late, and I get to spend some time with Tiny Bestie 💕 tomorrow before work while Itty Bitty Bestie❣️ goes for his checkup. If I wanna keep up, I’ll need my rest.
